Pi Wars 2020 – Postponement due to Coronavirus

We have some sad news.

With much regret, we have made the decision to postpone Pi Wars 2020. Although this was done with heavy hearts, we feel that, with the Coronavirus outbreak becoming a serious problem in the UK, we cannot continue with the event.

We hope that you can understand why we came to this decision: it is a matter of public safety and we feel that it would be irresponsible to hold the event when there is a significant risk of spreading the virus to more people.

We attempted to find a way forward by arranging additional hygiene measures at the venue and by issuing our previous statement which requested people not attend under certain conditions. However, we have decided that, given the scientific evidence available and the expectation that the UK government will have to take stronger measures in the coming weeks, we should take pre-emptive action to give all involved time to cancel or alter their plans for that weekend.

We apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this announcement may cause. We just feel that it is for the best, considering current events.

We intend to reschedule Pi Wars for a later date. This may be in late 2020 or March/April 2021. However, we need to hold discussions with the venue to find a suitable date that is convenient for both them and the Pi Wars team.

We will be sending out further communications to some of you in the next few days, so please watch out for those.

In the meantime, we want to thank you for being part of Pi Wars. We look forward to taking the event forward with you at a future date.

Until then, please stay healthy and accept our best wishes.
