Selection process

Main competition

For this year’s Pi Wars, we have decided to change the way teams are entered into the competition. Teams will register their intent to enter the competition during July. Starting on the 1st of August, we will then make a selection from all the registrants. This selection will aim to make sure we have a good mix of teams competing on the day.

Selection will depend on the quality of the details submitted, the expected size of your robot, and the make-up of your team. We hope that this is fairer than the first-come first-served approach we adopted last year.

If you are not selected outright, we may ask you to be on the ‘reserve list’. Last year, we had several teams drop out and we had to call on the teams on the reserve list to fill the spaces.

If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please leave a comment below or contact us.

Robots entering the Show and Tell / Non-challenge part

We will have a separate application form for anyone who would like to take part in the Show and Tell part of Pi Wars. These will also undergo a selection process which will aim to pick the most interesting exhibits out of those submitted.

  1. Hi,
My grandson and I won the smallest robot last year and we will not be entering the main competition. We would like to enter for the non competing robots, would we still need to apply?

    Thx.
    Stephen.

    1. Hi Stephen. Great to hear from you. Still remember that ridiculously tiny robot 🙂 There will be a separate application form for entering the show-and-tell/non-competitive part. 🙂 I will update this page with that information.
